The Kern Valley Art Association is supporting this creative expression of freedom, and the theme of the art work is “What does freedom mean to you?” The Freedom Wall will premier in the Freedom Art Gallery at the festival on Oct. 24th. This inspiring Freedom Wall will be available to tour the Kern Valley and other communities throughout the year, with installations in such places as hospitals, senior centers, community centers, and schools.
Submissions are due by Oct. 17 and can be any medium of art work on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper. Artwork can be sent in a “Do Not Fold” envelope to Kern River Valley Art Association, PO Box 588, Kernville CA 93238. Please mark “Freedom Wall” on the outside of the envelope. All applicants submitting an art piece for the freedom wall are asked to put their name and phone number on the back of the paper, along with “Adult” for submissions to the adult category and their age for the student category. All artists are asked to sign a release giving permission to the Festival coordinators to permanently incorporate the artwork into the Freedom Wall and to display the work.
